Welcome to the Slack Family

Groups and Festivals

where do i find other slackliners

This is a very common question when people first begin the sport.  The community is the main reason I personally stayed in this sport so long and at the level I have.  Connecting is a great way to try out gear before purchasing any.  Connecting is also a great way to find out when and where official slackline festivals are.  And it's a couch surf hack for dedicated slackers to travel the world staying with the network of slack houses that exist.  Just make sure you have 100% of all your facebook photos of you slacklining and speak all the lingo and you will most likely get to join in the groups!

Slackline Group Map and List

In 2017, Kim Weglin spent 4 months putting together a list of over 1300 facebook group links in an alphabetical list to help people find each other.  In 2018 Grant Mercer wrote an open source program to display a list of 500 groups as an interactive map.  In 2020, HowNOTtoHighline updated our list and with the help of George Braun, Ol Raul and Will Yeomans putting in over 50 hours of data entry, combined the list so the interactive map shared on several websites including ours now has 99% of the slackline groups in the world.  We have available to you the list version and the map version on this page!

Calendar of Festivals

There are slack specific events happening all over all the time.  This calendar is full of them including slackline festivals.  Hopefully someday we can integrate it into the Group Map (open source code if anyone wants to do it).  If you know of a festival, please submit it (link under calendar).  We want ALL of them on there!
